School-ing. Corona Renderer
A few years ago, I used 3d Max, at first, with
the Mental Ray render engine and then about 7 years ago I started working in an
infographics office and met Corona Renderer.
What seduced me about this CPU rendering engine
were: how fast it was to configure and how easy or intuitively it works. Until
now, like almost everyone in this world, I had seen the tutorials of AdánMartín or those of Corona's own YouTube. Back then, seeing some of these Adán tutorials,
I realized that this great human encyclopaedia on visualization programs and
render engines has a School!!
It is called “School-ing” and within their
courses they have “Project Development with Corona Renderer”. That course is
taught by another great, Pedro Jesús Caballero. The school is in Madrid for the
most extensive face-to-face courses, but there are many online options.
What attracted me most about this course is the
quality of the “Black Bone” project, since I am trying my luck alone creating my
own business related to the creation of infographics.
The school has a particularly good management,
Cari always answers emails quickly, providing all the necessary information to
access the platform, etc. Step by step Pedro was explaining the design process
from the first contacts with the client to organization of programs to make
your life easier.
You can look at the agenda that is very
complete. Before starting the course, you must see some introductory videos on
different topics related to the render engine used to start from the same
level.
What have I taken more advantage of the course?
In Module I “Understanding the Client” helped
me understand that many times in certain projects the client is designing at
the same time, it is not something static or final. I am left with “One
information of less, one problem more”
In Module II we learnt about reviews with the
client in the different phases. Pedro introduced
us to various programs to organize and share information with the client, the
first tests, etc.
Module III the topic was lighting and the different
types. We talked about the optical effects of caustics, the sun, etc.
Module IV explained many tricks for texturing,
both catalog models and own models. We were helped to create patterns, programs
and scripts that can help us.
Module V was post-production. “Photoshop star
of the heavens ...”
I have expressed what I have used most from the
course. However, there was also plenty of explanation of the render engine
through various projects, mainly from the Black Bone.
Pedro used tricks and ways to explain from his
experience. All this with the supervision of Adán and the technical assistance
of Eduardo.
The entire course also concludes with a final
project that you have about 3 weeks to finish and a correction in between.
It is certainly a course that I recommend 100%,
with a lot quality, seriousness, and professionalism. Perhaps I would add a
short mini exercise from one day to the next in which you can discuss a
specific topic, but that is not needed too badly. There were two days of
pleasant learning.
